The Benefits of Wire Sawing

The Benefits of Wire Sawing

While it is true that there are many ways to cut through a slab of concrete, few of them offer the benefits of wire sawing. Often enough concrete structures are too large or awkward to work with using other means of cutting or boring, requiring wire sawing services as a more specialised approach.

The process is elegant yet effective. First, core drills are used to create holes at the ends of the cutline, where a loop of diamond-edged cable is pulled through these holes and connected to a drive wheel which pulls it through the concrete so that it can be cut with precision.

Now that you know what wire-sawing is, let’s have a look at some of its benefits.

Cleanliness and Precision

Because a length of diamond-studded wire is used for the process, cuts using a wire-saw can be done with high-levels of accuracy and precision, making it the perfect approach for complicated jobs. The simplicity of this approach also makes the job much cleaner, effectively allowing the work to be done in less time than with other methods.

Heavy Rebar and Steel Beams

Wire sawing is an incredibly powerful approach to cutting through concrete, so much so that it can be used to easily cut through heavy rebar and imbedded steel beams in concrete structures. Other methods of concrete cutting are not always effective enough to do this.

No Breakage or Vibration

Because of the accuracy afforded by wire sawing, cuts can be completed with minimal resonance. Because of this, concrete structures have a better chance of retaining their integrity for reuse when wire sawing is used.

Cuts from any Position

The equipment used for wire sawing is portable, mobile and easy to work with (when the right amount of training and experience is applied). Because of this, the equipment can be moved with relative ease to approach the cut from any position; allowing cuts to be made more accurately.

Will there be dust or mess? No we at Borecut don’t leave any dust or mess! We use diamond segmented cutting blades and water to cut your concrete walls, floors and slabs. As the water touches the blade, it traps any dust particles and produces a liquid substance called slurry, which is easily clean up… Continue Reading

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONCRETE SAWS

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONCRETE SAWS

Concrete cutting and installations can be tricky project, with complex planned rebar and overall design, the final details often require post concrete inspection finesse. Remodelling an existing concrete structure can necessitate muddling solid concrete to build in new details. From grooving concrete slabs to removing whole solid blocks, choosing the correct concrete saw keeps your… Continue Reading

FLOOR AND WALL OR WIRE SAWING?

FLOOR AND WALL OR WIRE SAWING?

MINING AND CONSTRUCTION Many industries, whether construction or production, rely on solutions to accurately, neatly and efficiently cut or shape concrete. Being the stalwart substance that it is, concrete requires specialised equipment, techniques and training to be done properly and safely. In the South African concrete industry, there are currently two major methods that are… Continue Reading

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHEMICAL ANCHOR?

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHEMICAL ANCHOR?

Resin and chemical anchors are generic terms relating to steel studs, bolts and anchorages which are bonded into a substrate, usually masonry and concrete, using a resin based adhesive system. Ideally suited for high load applications, in virtually all cases the resulting bond is stronger than the base material itself and as the system is… Continue Reading

SAFETY CONCERNS FOR CUTTING CONCRETE

SAFETY CONCERNS FOR CUTTING CONCRETE

Since they do a far cleaner job of cutting concrete than abrasive saws, diamond ones are most commonly used for cutting concrete. However, the cutting power of these types of blades makes them especially dangerous for operators, who could face severe injuries, dismemberment or even death if operating it incorrectly. And while the principles of… Continue Reading
